Day 2 of the refresh and the migraine that did me in....

There is just something magical about being at your mom's house.... There is nothing to be done because it's not your house. And those little things that only a woman knows need to be done... Yup already doing them before you ask.

Woke up and drank my water in bed (that my mom had left on the nightstand or I would have forgotten it!) while Lucas and I watched some George.  We eventually crawled out of the warm, comfy bed and faced the day.

Mixed up my Shakeology with some strawberry and split a banana with Lucas.

Had some tea while Lucas and I built ducks out of Legos and played train. No picture of my Fiber Sweep because I drank it on the road to my nephew's wrestling match. I don't think I had enough water because it wasn't as smooth as yesterday.... Chug it, chug it!

My nephew got 2nd but apparently the tournament wasn't run very well so his next match being in 30 minutes turned into over an hour... I was so hungry by the time we got back to my mom's.... I was definitely licking my fingers from the piece of pizza I fed Lucas at the match.

I ate my carrots and hummus in my mom's driveway (and took this picture- don't use your phone while you drive!) and drank my Vanilla Fresh and ate my apple while I drive home because Lucas passed out from the school to my mom's.

When we got home I had some celery with almond butter- a teaspoon and a half doesn't go as far as I would like, but it was filling.

After snack time, I had to throw together supper because we had a surprise birthday party to go to for my man of honor... Yes I had a man of honor instead of a maid or matron. Can't believe we are all turning 30.... Time is going too fast!

I had planned to make the Cucumber and Tomato Salad but the Spinach Salad was so good, I made it again. And again, I could NOT eat it all and I didn't even have the optional broth with it.

The party was so much fun- A little different than our previous parties with these little tots running around but they brought us a lot of laughs. Lucas is the oldest with Eli coming in 2 months later and Olive turning 1 on Thursday.... They all weigh about the same! I swear, my little peanut packs the food away. Oh to have his metabolism!

I was so proud of myself for resisting the taco bar, fruit tray, cookies and cake. Al of those things could have been incorporated into my 21 day fix but since I was doing the refresh, I stuck to it.

Until the drive home. When the headache hit. And lights started to hurt. And then my stomach was turning and I was bent over with nausea.

And I ate a whole damn sleeve of Saltines. And I do not regret it. Because if I hadn't, I would have puked. And going off the refresh was better than puking in my world.

Does it suck that it happened? Yup. Am I going to beat myself up over it? Nope. Last year, that probably would have put me in tears and I would have been a B! today. But there isn't any point in being upset about it. It happened and I loved on with Day 3 today, no harm no foul.

Results tomorrow! Can't wait to share.

Stay balanced friends.

Day 3 of Refresh and Results

I woke up feeling much better and the migraine was gone so I was eager to finish strong. Breakfast of champions- chocolate Shakeology and blueberries!

My husband is on overnights which means Lucas and I try to stay pretty quiet- easier said than done! So around 9 I made my tea and we headed for Target. Lucas fell asleep on way over which gave me time to a- make my list and b- read my devotional. New Years goals!

Lucas had a BLAST when he woke up. This age is so fun. I don't think he stopped talking the entire time we were there.

If anyone needs a birthday idea for Lucas ;) he played with these puppies for a long time! Also tried to con me into a $50 Thomas the train book and toy set. "Thomas! Please! Please!" I swear, if I hadn't already bought him all his birthday presents on Black Friday my heart would have melted and it would have been ours.

Because Lucas played and was so entertained, we didn't get home until lunch time so I drank my Fiber Sweep while I fed him. I don't know what I did on the first day that made it so good, but day 3 I was thankful I was done with it. More water or more mixing maybe?

Lucas and I played downstairs and watched some Pooh and then I laid him down for a nap around 2. As I listened to him yell "Ready set go!" and run around his crib before finally settling down, j couldn't figure out what was off (other than my Netflix which wasn't working on iPad... Growl!). And then it hit me- I never ate lunch. 2 p.m. and I wasn't hungry. What the heck- who am I? I'm the girl who eats by 11. So I made myself a Vanilla Fresh and ate my apples, carrot and hummus and curled up for a nap.  This still blows my mind but this is exactly what I wanted from this experience- a recharge of my body. To get me away from eating out of habit or sugar addiction and listening to my body! And it's working!

When Lucas woke up and was ready for a snack, I ate some carrots and hummus with him.

For supper, my husband made me veggie stir fry to go with my Vanilla Fresh and broth.

This photo is from the leftovers I ate tonight- he made me 2 servings. What a sweetie.

After supper, I just say for a moment and gave myself a mental pat on the back. Yup, I had a cracker migraine incident but for the most part, I stuck with it and I was proud.

I couldn't wait to get on the scale today and see the change. And then IT happened.

No weight loss. What the BEEP?!? My clothes fit good again, I could see the bloat was gone.

And then I went and did my measurements for Day 1 of Hammer and Chisel. 2 inches gone from my stomach!

Oh yah, the scale LIES lol

So yup, it helped me lose that Christmas bloat. But what I'm most excited about is that it helped reset my hunger and cravings.

The 3 day refresh is on sale right now with my FAVORITE challenge packs (including the one I purchased it with), so if you want to reset your body and see results, send me a Facebook or Instagram message or email me at kaylamariedejong@gmail.com!

3 day refresh, Day 1

Anytime someone says they are doing a cleanse, I tend to scoff and think to myself "Good luck maintaining THAT one". So why am I doing the 3 day refresh? Well.... I've drunk the kool-aid.... No no no. Because I've seen the results other people have gotten AND maintained. This isn't a "starve yourself, poop like crazy" cleanse. This is a "cut the crap" refresh.

Beachbody sends you a book with the supplies that lays it all out for you, which fits my Type A personality perfectly.

So what does it look like:
Wake up at 5:45 with Lucas and coax him into sleeping in until 7 with me in the chair. While we watch some Pooh, I drink 10 ounces of water which I kept by my bed so I remembered to drink it when I woke up.

Easy enough. Then you drink Shakeology with a serving of fruit- mixed in or plain.

I was already planning on having Shakeology for breakfast so that was easy- throw in some blueberries and blend and breakfast is served.

I didn't get my morning tea because I forgot to make it before I left for my mom's house but it's optional so I was still on track.

When I got to my mom's, I did my fiber sweep. I was super nervous about drinking this because I am a huge texture person but it really wasn't bad- citrusy and didn't have a thick texture.

Lunch was a Vanilla Fresh, carrots and hummus and half an apple.

An hour later, I snacked on some celery with almond butter and an hour later o had some tea.

I was busy trying to get Lucas to nap all afternoon and I was never hungry. And then came supper.

Oh my goodness! I made the Spinach Salad (which was super easy) along with a cup of vegetable broth and Vanilla Fresh.... It was so much food! I really couldn't eat it all- I shared with my mom and Lucus! In what world do you do a cleanse and you can't eat all the food ?!? In a Beachbody world!

After I got my crazy man into bed, I took some time for mama since I'm not working out on the cleanse.

I did have a headache last night.... I think most of it is sinuses but I'm sure there is some caffeine withdrawal going on as well. Which means it's working!!

And it's on sale this month! Contact me if you want to reset your body!

It's all about balance friends... I will be back to 21 day on Monday!

2016 Goals

Well you can't start your 2016 goals without reviewing your 2015 list.
1.  30 minute 5k
     DONE.  A 27 minute 5k actually... boom!
2.  Pay off two student loans
DONE.  And I am $427 short of paying off my LAST student loan so when the husband wakes          up, we will be having a long discussion about where to find that money from fast.
3.  Live a healthier lifestyle
DONE.  And about to get healthier.
4.  Be a better person
Done?  I think I am a better, nicer person than I was in 2014 but I still have a ways to go :)

Midway through the year I added finishing a Pinterest book list and People's Best Moves in 2014.

I successfully read every book on the list.

I did not watch all the movies... I have watched Gone Girl (book is better), Theory of Everything (amazing!), and part of Selma this week but I'm definitely not going to get the rest of them finished this year so I will carry that list over into next year.  I've got a Best of 2015 list but I'm not going to make it a goal.

So the following goal sections were compiled from a few sources- Dave Ramsey, Chalene Johnson, and the book of Kayla to round it out to 10.  2 sub-goals in each area.  TWENTY GOALS?  Am I crazy.  Maybe!  But you never know until you try right?

The Meatloaf and Pancake recipes are from my fabulous Fixate Cookbook which you can purchase through my Brachbody Link.

Prep probably took me an hour total but that was throughout the day.

At lunch I put chicken in the crockpot with low carb BBQ sauce. There is a sauce recipe in the Beachbody nutrition guides that I want to try to decrease the sugar intake but I decided this was ok in for efficiency sake.

Later that afternoon I preheated my oven to 350, cut my spaghetti squash in half and dug out the seeds.

Bake for an hour, let cook and then use a fork to scrape and it's just like spaghetti!

Overnight oats with a yellow of oatmea, a red of plain Greek yogurt and a purple of fruits with a splash of unsweetened almond milk. Perfection! (Two are kissing fruit because I had some bananas to finish up at the beginning of the week).

I chopped celery and cucumbers and divided up my carrots into snack baggies.

Rinsed my fruit with fruit wash and water to remove the junk.

Measured out my squash using a green and my BBQ chicken using a red and placed everything in the fridge.

Done!

It's been delicious and amazing so far.

I did havenonebtreat to celebrate an exciting event that I will be sharing later.

If you are an 80/20 girl like me, I strongly recommend these chocolates. Yum!

Clearing my phone for the new year

Here is the randomness that accumulates on my phone of things I meant to share other days but forgot.... Not a professional blogger quite yet :)

This was taken the Wednesday before Christmas.... You make me sad Target.

This has been my life all of Christmas.

This has been my life once Lucas goes to bed.

Yup, still bitter about the fence and that I'm going in to 2016 with a student loan.

If you find these, buy them. You will not be disappointed.

Pineapple upside down cake at work.... Doesn't come close to my grandma's recipe and just made me miss my grandma a lot.... I know she's watching over us every day!

Did everyone else know winter doesn't start until December? I didn't.... Blonde moment.

Enough said.

There are many times a week I say that I need an adult.... And I'm not kidding.

It got cold this week.... Really cold.

Read this book this week for a little motivation to stay on track with money...

If you can still find these, invest in them.

They are as ooey gooey as they look.

I will break my healthy lifestyle for this.

Will be ordering this in the new year- who needs chocolate milk when you have chocolate Recover from Beachbody

Got up with Lucas twice last night.... Mike slept through both times.

Good reminder ;)

Kept up the Christmas tradition from my house of making cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning... Yum!

Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed Christmas! I know I went to bed feeling incredibly blessed and grateful... Even when Lucas woke up and slept with me from midnight on ;)

We had our last Christmas with the in laws today and I am ready to start my sugar and carb detox tomorrow lol But I will wait until my challenge group officially starts Jan 1.  Thankfully I got all the things I will need:

What a beautiful sight beneath the tree!

21 Day Fix challenge pack- can't wait to use my 21 day insulated bag!

3 day refresh- my husband asked me what it was and I told him hell. He didn't believe me and kept asking for details so I told him more about it and his comment "So you will be pooping and starving?" Yah.. He gets me.

So does my mom:

A Fit Belt, a Garmon, pajamas, my favorite beef jerky and a devotional. Balanced life in a box!

I've already been using my other Christmas gift which was my new running shoes from my dad.

My in laws have us a lovely check which we will be splitting between Lucas' saving fund and our debt snowball. I am such a nerd because I am SUPER excited to do my budget on the 31st and figure out how close we will be to paying off my last student loan. We WILL be debt free by my 30th birthday.

Our final gift is that my parents are taking my brothers and I and our families to Wisconsin Dells this summer. I have such fond memories of going there as a kid and can't wait to share that experience with Lucas. Thankfully I knew it was coming because my mom introduced it as "Your dad and I have an announcement...." My parents are divorced and have been for 17 years and my brother totally thought they were going to announce something else... Maybe you have to have my twisted sense of humor or know my family but I died laughing at that one... Still am.

That's all I have for today. My husband has lots of snow to shovel and Lucas and I have lots of toys to play with.

(That's just from us- full gift post on his blog. Thank you Black Friday- I stayed 100% in budget.)
